We don't use lotion in bottles in our house and none of the other bottles we had would be the right size for the project. So I took myself down to the dollar store and bottle a bottle of lotion. Hey, for a dollar, who can complain. I emptied, cleaned, and dried it. I took out my fabric scraps and Mod Podge, and got to work. I followed the design recommendations and cut the bottle using my scissors and Exacto knife. I decided to give a try before I started to decorate it. When I tried to use it with the plug and phone, I was a bit disappointed. The bottle was too short. Or my phone was too big. Either way I would have to unplug it to pull my phone in and out of the holder. So back to the dollar store I went to purchase a larger bottle. This one was larger in every respect but it ended up working much better.
I used some fabric scraps I had that would at least match the bedroom decor in color if not in style. I had not actually used mod podge before so I was pleasantly surprised by how easy and how well it worked. There is actually room for both of our phones in the holder. Our sockets are fairly old though; Even without the holder, the plugs were constantly falling out of the socket. So I am unable to put both phones in the holder without it falling down. So we still have one phone perched precariously on top of my jewelry cabinet.
As for the other holder I started, I decided that I wanted to try to make it work for my craft room. So I cut off the top portion where the plug went into it, again used some fabric scraps and Mod Podge, and attached some plastic covered design wire. I had to work with it a little to get it to stay in place without falling behind the plug. It reminds me an awful lot of an Easter Basket, which was not the original intent, but I still like it. It will only hold one phone but I highly doubt there will be a need for two in my craft room!***Unfortunately, shortly after I created these, I dropped my phone on our concrete porch and broke it. Since it was not replaceable, I purchased the new Motorola Razr which has its charging port on the top of the phone instead of the side. This made the green one unusuable and the red one a little more difficult to use. I was disappointed that I could no longer use the green one.
